Roamer Used in Porch Project and Debate Graph

It's always exciting to see what people are building with the Constellation visualization tools! Recently, I came across a couple websites that use Constellation Roamer—both of which are freely visible on the internet. That means you could go over and check them out!

Porch Project

Porch Project explores the history of the front porch and presents several interactive tools in a clean design. The website is part of an MFA thesis by Donna Lichaw, an interactive designer who calls New York city home.

Roamer is used to show relationships between architecture, people, innovation, and pop culture in the context of the front porch. This particular implementation makes great use of the customization properties to make the visualization fit in with the friendly design. Porch Project also uses Javascript to display an image and some text about the selected node, as well as synchronizing Roamer with a timeline visualization.

Debategraph

Peter Baldwin and David Price are the founders of Debategraph, a tool used to visualize the different aspects of important issues. This ambitious website allows users to explore the arguments on all sides of a public debate and even add their own arguments and comments.

This Roamer implementation has a customized appearance and takes advantage of the mouse over tooltips for displaying additional information about nodes and edges. Javascript integration is also used to implement back and forward buttons so the user can return to previously visited areas of the graph.
